Standing above the rest of the competition when it comes to the success of your cannabis extraction business relies on having the highest quality products possible and having unique offerings that distinguish your brand in an increasingly saturated market. High Quality cannabis extracts are defined by exquisite flavors and aromas. Unique cannabis extracts convey strain specific terpene profiles that showcase the craft qualities of the starting inputs.

The cannabis industry is growing exponentially in the US and the extract is taking up an increasingly larger market share every year. Legal sales of marijuana are expected to top $33 billion by the end of 2022 and the cannabis extract sector, which presently accounts for 16.6% of the market, will be worth $28.5 Billion By 2027 and $42.89 Billion by 2030. Crucial factors accountable for market growth are:

Growing use of cannabis for medicinal purpose and increased education and marketing about cannabis extracts and concentrates. The most important part of being successful in the Cannabis Extract Industry is keeping costs of production as low as possible while also elevating yourself above your competition through quality products and innovation.

Keeping both of those important factors in mind equipment selection is one of the most crucial decisions a starting or expanding extraction business can make. PURE5™Extraction Equipment was designed with the concept of the lowest-cost operation and the highest quality outputs possible. The selective polarity of our chosen solvent and the low pressure at which the terpenes are extracted leave with you with a higher quality and more strain specific extract than any other extraction process currently used in the cannabis industry.

Cannabinoids have become commoditized with continuing saturation of retail markets and ever-expanding scales of production. Superior terpene extraction methods and integrating these high-quality compounds into your products is what will make your brand rise above the rest of your competition.

Terpenes are organic compounds found in the essential oils of most plants. Their job is to provide aroma and flavor. Cannabis plants in particular showcase complex combinations of 40 terpenes on average, and more than 400 terpenes in total have already been identified in the different marijuana strains. Among them are monoterpenes, diterpenes, and sesquiterpenes, which are characterized by the number of repeating units of a 5-carbon molecule called isoprene, the structural hallmark of all terpenoid compounds. The fact that every plant exhibits a distinctive aroma is owed to its unique terpene ratio, which is commonly known as terpene profile. or a type of aromatic DNA for plants.

Many of the purest extractions, like distillates and THCa crystals or ‘diamonds’, have practically no smell or flavor because they’re isolated cannabinoid concentrates, with no remaining terpenes or other usual cannabis components. But for the experience to become as complete as possible, many consumers started to demand higher terpene content and craft quality extracts over the typically available distillates and other flavorless extracts like EHO.

The main terpene extraction process used for centuries is steam distillation. The drawback is the yield is very low and heat has been used to generate steam which degrades terpenes.

The use of CO2 in extraction of terpenes has been limited only to when dry flowers are extracted. Extracting fresh flowers with high water content is a challenge for the CO2 process since the aggressive CO2 solvent when its liquid state reacts with the water components and converts to an acid.

The minimum condition to put the CO2 in a liquid state to extract at reasonable temperature is over 70 atmospheres of pressure. It is the same atmospheric condition as on the planet Venus where the CO2 is residing in its liquid form. These extreme extraction conditions degrade and destroy valuable terpene content.

Terpenes are very delicate and require extreme care for their aromas and flavors to be preserved correctly. High temperatures and high pressure, either combined or separate, lead to the breakdown of the terpene chemical structure. So how do you eliminate impurities like fats, chlorophyll, and other plant metabolites without damaging the terpenes? The key to everything in the chemistry of extraction comes down to polarity of a solvent and that is why PURE5™ offers a far superior way to extract cannabis and terpenes than the previously available methods.

In the diagram below a range of organic substances are shown and bars of the solubility of various solvents. Understanding the solvent is of major importance for extraction of the full spectrum resin. There are oil soluble compounds, alcohol soluble compounds and water-soluble compounds in the plants, that is why it is important to select your solvent base regarding what compound to be extracted.

PURE5™ Extraction Equipment would like to help you and your business succeed by providing a low-cost way to produce the highest quality extracts possible while keeping your employees and your investment safe from the dangers and high costs of flammable and toxic solvents.
